Volunteers conclude 370-day stay in simulated lunar base

Four volunteers step out of the Yuegong-1, a self-contained simulated space lab, at Beihang University in Beijing on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. They were originally scheduled for a 105-day stay that would end on May 10 but were asked to stay for another five days to see how they would mentally cope with the sudden change. Vegetables and fruits that were cultivated inside the self-contained simulated space lab Yuegong-1 are being displayed at Beihang University in Beijing. The 150-square-meter lab includes a cabin, where the volunteers lived and worked, and two plant cabins where staple food crops and vegetables were grown. The crops and vegetables included wheat, potatoes, carrots, soybeans, cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. [Photo: China Plus]
