摘要:

Over the past decade, social network research has been a powerful tool to understand important organizational phenomena spanning different research areas, such as leadership (Carter, DeChurch, Braun, & Contractor, 2015), teamwork (Li, Zhao, Walter, Zhang,& Yu, 2015), creativity and innovation (Perry-Smith & Shalley, 2003), career (Seibert, Kraimer, & Liden, 2001), power and influence (Ibarra & Andrews, 1993). A social network approach allows organizational scholars to capture the complex and dynamic interactions among individuals in the workplace and gain a finer grained understanding of the phenomenon of interest. Moving forward, with the fast development of information technology, modern technologies have transformed the way employees work in contemporary organizations. As a result, organizations are increasingly using digital collaboration platforms to encourage more efficient collaborations among employees. Therefore, social network analysis is also a powerful tool in understanding employee behaviors in the digital era. In this presentation, I will synthesize various applications of social network analysis in organizational research in the past and discuss promising future directions of social network research such as digital collaboration, network change, and big data.

在过去十年中,社会网络的理论及工具已被大量研究者采用以研究组织管理中的问题,例如领导力(Carter, DeChurch, Braun, & Contractor, 2015)、团队合作(Li, Zhao, Walter, Zhang, & Yu, 2015)、创造力与创新(Perry-Smith & Shalley, 2003)、以及权力与影响策略(Ibarra& Andrews, 1993)。采用社会网络的视角,研究者可以获取工作场所中人与人之间更加复杂、动态的人际交往过程,以及更好地理解组织管理现象。近些年来,随着信息技术的快速发展,当代组织中员工的工作方式已经发生了很大变化。具体而言,组织越来越依靠信息化合作平台推动组织内员工之间更高效地协同工作。在此次汇报中,李宁教授将系统总结过往关于从社会网络视角探究组织管理问题的研究,并详细讨论未来潜在的研究方向,例如:信息化协作、网络结构变化以及大数据应用。

主讲人简介:

Ning Li is an Associate Professor with tenure and Pioneer Research Fellow in the Department of Management and Organizations at The University of Iowa. Prior joining the University of Iowa, he received a bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in management and received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. His current research interests include big data in management, team collaboration, social network analysis, team leadership, citizenship behaviors, and proactive phenomena in organizations. His work appeals in many top-tier management and psychology journals as theAcademy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management,andHarvard Business Review. His work has been reported by Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Business News Daily, Yahoo, and INC. Over the past several years, he has been invited to give research presentations by many top research universities. In 2015, he received Early Career Research Award from Tippie College of Business, the University of Iowa. He is currently an editorial board member atJournal of Applied PsychologyandJournal of Organizational Behavior.

李宁,现任美国爱荷华大学Tippie商学院管理与组织系终身副教授,前沿研究员(Pioneer Research Fellow)。李教授于美国德州农机大学Mayes商学院获得管理学博士学位,于上海交通大学安泰经济与管理学院获的管理学学士学位。他目前的研究兴趣包括:大数据时代的组织管理,社会网络分析,团队领导力,组织公民行为以及组织中的“员工主动”现象。他的研究成果发表于许多管理学顶级期刊,例如:Academy of Management ReviewAcademy of Management JournalAcademy of Management AnnalsJournal of Applied PsychologyPersonnel PsychologyJournal of ManagementHarvard Business Review。同时,李教授的研究成果对管理实践产生了一系列积极影响,相关研究发现被《哈佛商业评论》、《福布斯杂志》、《每日商业新闻》、雅虎等主流商业媒体纷纷报道、转载。在过去几年中,他被很多中、外一流的研究型大学邀请做学术报告。在2015年,他被美国爱荷华大学授予“早期职业生涯成就奖”。目前,李教授担任组织行为学顶级期刊Journal of Applied Psychology以及权威期刊Journal of Organizational Behavior的编委会成员。
